Mountain Biking
A Collection of Mountain Biking Trails
I’ve been blessed to be able to work remote and travel across the states to ride and ride and ride. I’m an average middle-aged rider that has been riding for many years. I don’t race, I don’t use Strava, I just get out and enjoy riding. It’s great for the heart and soul. Riding clears my head and keeps me in decent shape. Mountain biking is not my life or my only passion, but many have asked me to share the journey and it was worth well documenting this list of fine rides. I use a multitude of apps to find trails. Do NOT go by my GPS or mileage, they are just indicators, Apps are far more effective than my little scratch project.
What I Ride
I ride the Spirit Bike, a gift from a dear friend that lost her husband, Phil. He was a passionate and extraordinary rider (road, mountain and tandem). He had several bikes and his wife generously gave me one of his mountain bikes. I did not take this gift lightly, it was truly an honor and would be sure to take it to as many places as I could. This turned out to be one of the most healing tools in my life, for so many reasons. I won’t dive too deep, but I will share Phil’s mantra, UNITE:
- Understand
- Never Give Up
- Imagine
- Take a Risk
- Explore
The Spirit Bike is a reminder to get out and live, to take a risk, explore, never give up… Phil’s presence is everywhere, but I feel him the most outside in nature. I feel his positive energy, his encouragement, his undeniable spirit. I know he wants us out on trail and he wants to share that part of his world, our world. The Spirit Bike travels and explores, but it is only one symbol of his presence. I carry Phil (and many other loved ones) on every journey, those beautiful souls remind me to live. I feel most connected to the ones I’ve lost through nature. Phil pedals with me, and Cody comes with me everywhere. I use his approach to push me in every phase of my life. We are blessed to be here, use your 24!
